JKBOPEE NEET UG 2026: Round 2 Online Counselling Notification Issued for MBBS & BDS Admissions

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has officially released the schedule and guidelines for the Second Round of Online Counselling (Upgradation and Fresh Allotment) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across various Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir for the academic session 2026.

Following the completion of the first round of admissions, colleges submitted their shortfall and vacant seat details on the BOPEE portal. To fill these remaining seats, the Board invites eligible NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates to submit their online preferences within the stipulated window.

• Online Preference Filling Starts: 07-09-2026 (From 12:30 PM onwards)
• Last Date to Submit Choices: 10-09-2026 (Up to Midnight)

Eligibility Criteria for Round 2 Counselling

Candidates falling under the following categories are eligible to participate in the second round of choice filling:

• Candidates with No Allotment: Students who registered earlier but did not secure any seat in Round 1.
• Allotted Candidates (Joined or Not Joined): Candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 1, regardless of whether they joined the institution or not. However, such candidates cannot opt for the exact same institution again in Round 2.
• ASCOMS Specific Rule: Candidates allotted a seat at ASCOMS under a specific quota (OM, Management, Hindu Minority, or NRI) who joined or did not join cannot opt for ASCOMS under that same category again. They remain eligible for other categories in ASCOMS or any other medical colleges.
• Cancelled Admissions: Candidates who took admission in Round 1 but cancelled it on or before the prescribed last date are eligible. The same restriction applies: they cannot select the identical college (or identical quota at ASCOMS) from which they resigned.
• Fresh Entrants (NEET Qualified): Candidates who qualified NEET UG 2026 but did not participate in Round 1 can participate now. They must pay the online counselling fee of Rs. 1,500/- before filling their preferences.

Key Guidelines Every Candidate Must Know

1. Fresh Choice Filling is Mandatory: Choices submitted during Round 1 stand completely null and void. Every candidate wanting a seat or upgradation must submit a completely fresh preference list online.
2. Status of Already Joined Candidates: If a candidate already holding a joined seat from Round 1 does not submit fresh choices during this window, they will retain their existing seat and won't be considered for any upgradation.
3. Category-Wise Vacancies: Shortfall seats will be filled strictly based on merit-cum-preference within the respective categories. Vacancies created due to upgradation will be processed dynamically and allotted simultaneously in this round.
4. Fee Exemption: Candidates who have already deposited the counselling fee of Rs. 1,500/- during Round 1 are not required to pay any fee again.
5. Irreversible Allotment: Once a seat is allotted in Round 2, it cannot be altered. Candidates are strongly advised to select only those institutions and streams they are genuinely interested in taking admission to.

Next Steps for Candidates

The Board will upload the updated seat matrix separately on its website prior to or along with the activation of the counselling portal. Candidates are strictly advised to review the college-wise and category-wise vacancy matrix carefully before submitting and locking their final preferences. Ensure all selections are finalized before midnight on September 10, 2026.
