Jammu and Kashmir Degree College Admissions 2026: CUET Cancelled, 12th Merit-Based Today

Latest Update: The J&K Higher Education Department has officially announced that UG admissions for 2026 will be Non-CUET based. Selection will be done on Class 12th Merit.

Overview of J&K College Admissions 2026

The centralized admission process for Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) has started today across all 142 Government Degree Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. Whether you are from the Jammu Division or Kashmir Division, the registration process is unified through a single portal.

Key Change: CUET Cancelled

In a significant shift from previous years, the CUET exam is not mandatory for admission to GDCs this year. The department has reverted to the 12th-class merit system to simplify the process for students, especially those from far-flung areas.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualification: 12th Pass (10+2) from a recognized board.
  • Minimum Marks: As per the norms of respective Universities (University of Jammu/Kashmir).
  • Selection Basis: Academic merit of Class 12th.

Admission Portal & Registration

Every student must register on the JK Samarth Admission Portal. No offline forms will be accepted at the initial stage.
