The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, through the Jammu & Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), runs an excellent educational assistance program commonly known as the J&K Labour Scholarship Scheme 2026. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on registered unorganized construction laborers by providing substantial financial aid to their children for pursuing education.

The registration process occurs in phases based on academic years. For the current session, the key timeline is as follows:

  • Last Date to Apply: Tentatively varies course-by-course (Students are advised to apply within 30-45 days of getting admission or mark sheets).

Scholarship Amount (Class-Wise Details)

The financial assistance is directly credited to the beneficiary's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The amount varies significantly based on the class or technical nature of the course:

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?



To avoid application rejection, students and parents must fulfill the strict eligibility norms specified by the board:

  1. Domicile: The parent/guardian must be a permanent resident or domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
  2. Active Labour Card: One of the parents must be actively registered as a worker with the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The registration must be renewed and valid.
  3. Work Proof: The construction worker must have completed at least 90 days of construction work in the preceding 12 months.
  4. Student Status: The child must be a regular student with a consistent attendance record in a government-recognized school, college, or university.
  5. Academic Clearance: The student must have passed the previous academic class/semester exams cleanly.

⚠️ Important Note: Wards of individuals employed in the organized sector, regular government departments, or those who are active income taxpayers are not eligible to claim benefits under this scheme.

Documents Required for J&K Labour Scholarship 2026

Keep scanned copies of these documents ready before starting the online form:

  • Valid Labour Card / JKBOCW Registration ID of the parent.
  • Aadhaar Card of both the student and the parent worker.
  • Current Year Bonafide Certificate / School Study Proof from the Principal.
  • Latest Academic Marks Card/Result sheets.
  • Active Bank Passbook Copy (Preferably of the student or linked joint account with Aadhaar).
  • Recent Passport-size photograph of the student.
  • Fee receipt issued by the current educational institution.

How to Apply Online for J&K Labour Scholarship 2026

  1. Go to the official JKBOCW portal or standard J&K State service portal (jkbocw.gov.in).
  2. Log in using the Parent Worker's credentials (User ID and Password). If you are a new worker, register the worker profile first.
  3. Navigate to the "Welfare Scheme Registration" tab and select "Apply for Scheme".
  4. Choose the appropriate educational assistance option (Academic or Professional Education Scheme).
  5. Fill out the student's current academic data, institution info, and accurate bank details.
  6. Upload all the listed mandatory documents in the specified format and size.
  7. Submit the form and take a printout of the generated confirmation page along with the application tracking ID.
