Srinagar January 05: Severe cold weather conditions continued in jammu and kashmir despite slight russ in minimum temperature with Srinagar recording a low minus 3.0 degree celcius on Friday 

Kashmir valley is under chillai Kalan thr 40 day harsh period of winter, which will end on January 38. However it does not mean and end to the winter . It's followed by a 20 day long period called 'Chillai Khurd' that occurs between January 30 to February 19 and a 20 day long period f called Chill Bachae which is from February 20 to march.

According to the MET department kashmir there is a possibility of generally cloudy and dry weather over plains and very light snow over isolated extreme reaches during next 24 hours. From January 6 to 7, they said mainly dry weather is expected.
