J&K Degree College Admissions: First Round Cut-Off Released – Check Complete Details & Selection List Here

The Department of Higher Education, Jammu and Kashmir, has officially released the highly anticipated First Round Cut-Off List for admission to various undergraduate courses in Degree Colleges across the UT. Students who applied for BA, BSc, BCom, and other major streams can now check their selection status online.

This year, the admission process has seen major structural changes, leading to massive relief among the local student community. If you are aiming for admission in J&K government degree colleges, here is everything you need to know about the first-round selection list, the changes in the selection criteria, and the step-by-step process to check your allotment.

Major Update: CUET Cancelled for J&K Degree College Admissions

In a significant move that reshaped the entire admission scenario this season, the administration decided to **cancel the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) requirement** for general undergraduate admissions in Jammu and Kashmir's government degree colleges.

Important Note: The decision to bypass CUET was taken keeping in mind the technical grievances, exam center allocation issues, and the hardships faced by students living in far-flung and rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

Because CUET stands cancelled for these regular non-professional college seats, the entire merit system has reverted back to basics. The selection lists and cut-offs for this academic session have been prepared purely on the basis of Class 12th board marks (Academic Merit). This has dramatically leveled the playing field for students from JKBOSE and CBSE alike.

J&K College Admissions First Round Selection List & Cut-Off

With the release of the first round allotment, top-tier colleges in Srinagar, Jammu, and various district headquarters have witnessed competitive cut-offs, especially in high-demand streams like Commerce, English Honors, and Medical sciences.

The seat allocation has been done dynamically through the centralized admission portal based on the preferences locked by candidates during the form-filling phase. If a candidate's 12th percentage meets the specific college and course combination criteria, a seat has been provisionally allocated to them in this initial round.

Admission Highlights at a Glance:

  • Admission Basis: 12th Class Merit (No CUET Score Required).
  • Round 1 Status: Officially Released.
  • Action Required: Candidates must log in, verify seat allotment, and accept the seat before the specified deadline to secure their admission.
  • Document Verification: Physical verification of academic and category documents will happen at the allotted colleges right after seat acceptance.

Step-by-Step Procedure to Check J&K Degree College Cut-Off & Selection Status

Candidates can check the college-wise cut-offs and their personal selection letters by following these simple steps on the official Higher Education portal:

  1. First, open your web browser and visit the official Jammu and Kashmir centralized admission portal: jkadmission.samarth.ac.in (or check the integrated linkages on the legacy jkadmissions.in page).
  2. On the homepage, navigate and look for the link labeled "College-Wise Cut-Off / Selection List Round 1".

  1. Click on it, and a new page will open. Select your desired District, then select the specific College Name and Stream/Course you applied for.
  2. The portal will display the minimum cut-off marks/percentage for various categories (Open Merit, RBA, ST, SC, EWS, etc.) for that particular college.
  3. To check your individual allotment, click on the "Login" button, enter your registered User ID/Application Number and Password, and check your dashboard to download the provisional allocation letter.
What to do after seat allotment? Once a seat is allocated, you must click on 'Accept Allotment'. Take a printout of your application and allocation slip, and report to the concerned college with all original academic certificates, category certificates, and passport-size photographs for timely document verification.

What if you didn't get selected in the First Round?

If your name is not on the first selection list, do not panic. Since many students choose to upgrade or drop seats for professional courses, a significant number of seats will fall vacant. The department will release a Second Round Selection List and subsequent spot admission rounds to fill the remaining seats.
