The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the detailed recruitment notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT 02/2026). Online applications are invited from eligible unmarried male and female candidates to join the elite force as Commissioned Officers in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) branches. The courses for this recruitment drive are scheduled to commence in July 2027 at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.

Vacancy Details
This year, a total of 379 tentative vacancies have been announced across various branches under Short Service Commission (SSC) and Permanent Commission (PC) entries:

Eligibility Criteria (As on 01 July 2027)
1. Age Limit:
- Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Entry): 20 to 24 Years. Candidates must be born between 02 July 2003 and 01 July 2007. (Up to 26 years for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA).
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): 20 to 26 Years. Candidates must be born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007.
2. Educational Qualification:
- Flying Branch: Graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks, having passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level with 50% marks in each. Alternatively, a B.E./B.Tech degree is also acceptable.
- Ground Duty (Technical): Minimum 4-year graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology disciplines specified by the IAF with 60% aggregate marks.
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduate Degree (Graduation/Integrated Post-Graduation) in any discipline/relevant stream from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks.
Selection Procedure
The selection process for Indian Air Force Officers through AFCAT involves a robust multi-stage system:
- Online CBT Written Exam: Objective type test testing General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude.
- AFSB Testing: Stage-I (Officer Intelligence Rating Test & PP&DT) followed by Stage-II (Psychological Test, Group Tests, and Personal Interview).
- Medical Examination: Thorough physical checkups at specialized military hospitals.
- All India Merit List: Final appointment based on written exam scores and AFSB marks performance
Application Fee Details
- AFCAT Entry Candidates: Rs. 550/- + GST charges (Non-refundable).
- NCC Special Entry / GATE Score Entry: Nil (Exempted from paying fee).

- Click on the 'Candidate Login' area and click on 'Not yet Registered? Register Here'.
- Sign up by submitting your Full Name, Email ID, and 10-digit Mobile Number. Verify via OTP.
- Login using the freshly sent credentials and completely fill out the Application Form details.
- Upload scanned copies of your passport photo, signature, and thumb impression in the specified sizes.
- Submit the applicable payment fee via online channels and safe-keep a printout of the final acknowledgement slip.
