OTR stands for One Time Registration, it is a unique 14-digit number that is based on Aadhaar and is applicable for the whole academic journey of the student.

Lots of students are getting SMS regarding this OTR in NSP Scholarships.

 The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) introduced this feature called OTR, with regard to ensure a streamlined process for scholarship applications from the students of academic year 2024-25. 

OTR simplifies the scholarship application process and also eradicates the need of re-registration in each academic year, which ensures efficiency, reducing duplicacy, and enhances accessibility. 

NSP portal has made the OTR process mandatory, to simplify the registration process and make sure there is no duplication.

This OTR process comprises of 4 steps:

1. Candidates must go through the guidelines while registering after log in on the NSP portal.

An active mobile number and a mobile phone or desktop is important for OTR process and it does not have any fee.

2. Enter mobile number and verify it with the generation of OTP.

3. After mobile verification applicants have to go through e-kyc process.

4. Finally under finish tab applicants have to finish the process.

Why OTR is necessary:

• The OTR process allows students to provide their details only once thereby restricting them to apply for multiple scholarships.

• It allows students to enter their information only once for multiple scholarships thereby reducing duplication of data.

• It aims to verify student data thereby reducing the error and inconsistency in data.

• It enhances user experience and makes NSP portal more user friendly.
